Cinco de Sunday

Cinco de Mayo is such a funny holiday. It gives reasons for people to dress up in sombreros (or mini sombreros that I spotted so many cute girls wearing... I need to get in on that next year), work in sticker mustaches, and carry around ponchos (or towels in the form of ponchos yesterday because it was so cold). I love to get inspired by what people actually end up wearing, always seeing some of the cutest and most creative outfits in town. So while Cinco dreadfully landed on a chilly Sunday this year compared to last year's bright and joyful Saturday, my friends and I weren't going to let that get in the way of our celebratory plans. Heading to one of our favorite joints on Sunset, the ultimate Pink Taco, we started off our day with a little brunch and margaritas. It's crazy how I remember exactly a year ago on Cinco marked the grand opening of Pink Taco on Sunset, with a line around the corner on both sides with people trying to get in. This year, the only thing that was crazy was that they changed the menu around two weeks ago (beware Pink Taco'ers, there was no warning!).  Once we ended our brunching ways, we headed to the Roosevelt Hotel for Cinco de Mayer where we listened to the sounds of Mayer Hawthorne poolside at the Tropicana and where along the way, I came across a little amazing street called "Lanewood". Overall, a good Cinco de Sunday if you ask me.
