I take you inside my big The Wizard of Oz wall reveal in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles at Arqade Studios. The day consisted of Sprinkles Cupcakes, body jewels by The Gypsy Shrine, props by Bob Gail Special Events, cotton candy by Twisted For Sugar, fashion sketches by Courtney Collins, nails by Nail Garden, and drinks by Dulce Vida Spirits and Road 36 events.
I'm so excited to be taking you into a new series that I will be publishing EVERY OTHER WEEK on my YouTube channel called #FashionlaineFridays where I'll be sharing some of the highlights and REAL moments from my weeks in hopes that you can get a little better sense of who I am BEHIND the pictures.

In honor of my celebration, I wanted to do something unique and different so I teamed up with Reebok and their #BeMoreHuman campaign.

 
J • O • U • R • N • E • Y. . “Finding your way doesn't mean you always know where you're going”. . I don’t know about you, but I’m the type of person that HATES the phrase “Embrace the journey” because I’m the type that NEEDS to have my exact plans laid out. When I have a vision, I’m set on making that a solid reality—why do I need to go on a journey when I know the LAINE 😉 that I want to take?. . But do you believe that everything in your life takes place in a way that’s meant to occur? Because I do. Which has ended up meaning that those preplanned paths we’re so dead set on sometimes are just that...paths we needed to take simply to get us to where we’re supposed to go next. . Throughout the years I’ve had so many visions for myself that I was so sure of. But throughout time I’ve seen firsthand how those visions ended up just being the stepping stones to take me to the places I was meant to go next. What seems like detours in life are not actually there to take us steps back, but in reality there to make us grow & leap forward into bigger directions than we saw for ourselves. . I believe that each of our journeys are not chaotic arrangements but really, beautifully well-put together orchestrated narratives that have been compiled to lead us to our greater final destinations. If you begin to lead your life in confidence that you’ll ultimately get to where you’re meant to be & let go of how you think it’s supposed to look to get there, then you can live a more powerful life accepting any path that comes your way. And when you start taking on life with this mentality, you’ll start to see that every moment, ESPECIALLY those that look like detours, are always going to be for your benefit. Even if you can’t see it at the time. . So for this #MondayMotivation I actually encourage you TO embrace the journey. When life seems to not go according to the route you’ve mapped out in your head, try looking at it instead as in interesting plot twist asking yourself “OK, where is this going to take me NEXT?”. Because trust me, what’s going to come next is probably WAY better than what you planned for yourself. Anyone else with me?! 👊🏻💖🌈 ll #inspilaine

And that’sss a WRAP on the #DesertInColor series yallzzzz. I hope you all loveddd this whole concept as much as @mayralobba & I loved creating it. We wanted to put something together that hadn’t been done on social media before while creating a meaningful storyline and message to go with each shoot. If there's one takeaway I want you to have from this whole series it's: No matter what life brings you, you truly do have the power to bring color with your existence to ANY situation (or in this case, with any desert-y locations). Life is about perspective and the way we decide to look at things. While some things that take place in life may not make any sense, if we work on shifting the way they occur to us & try viewing them from a different lens— then we can make every moment, even the toughest ones, something worth understanding. Spent this past #FridayFunday skating my way allll through Venice.... And by skating I mean falling over more than 20 times and wishing I rented a @bird instead because that seemed WAYYY safer. Has anyone used one of them?! I’m wayyy fascinated with this new epidemic. 🛴💨✨
C • H • A • N • G • E. . “To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often”— Winston Churchill. . This weekend was #Coachella and to MANY people’s surprises... I didn’t go. If you know me well, you KNOW the words “Lainey”, “Coachella” & “Coloring Your Hair Rainbow For The Desert” literally go hand-in-hand. Sooo me not being there this weekend was pretty impossible to understand. . Exactly a year ago I posted this picture on my Instagram from the festivial with a whole caption & video (click the link in my Insta bio to see it) sharing my feelings about the weekend. While most people came back having one of the best times of their lives, I came back having a big re-evaluation on a lot of things I wanted to shift: from my blog to brand to the priorities in my life in general— which I try to share at minimum with these #MondayMotivation posts I now do. . Leading up to this year’s Coachella, I found myself making plans with all these brands to head out there again, because as a blogger, I felt like I NEEDED to be there. And while I LOVE me a good music festival & epic ferris wheel photo, this year internally, I found myself actually really not wanting to go at all. The desire I so had in the past seemed to no longer be there. And in this process, I noticed I started making myself feel bad thinking there was something wrong with me that this time I actually didn’t care to go. . In life, change happens. And the way I initially viewed this change was that it wasn’t good because it was different. But in reality, change is a beautiful thing and just means people can, do, & go through different stages— evolution. I look at the girl in this picture from just one year ago & see someone completely different on a lot of levels from the girl I am today. And while I’m for sure NOTTT saying that I’m neverrr gonna go to Coachella again, I just want today’s post to be a reminder to you all that it’s OK to be & act different from your past—EMBRACE the change. . I DID watch a bunch of the live streams though and have to say one of my FAVE sets was @kygomusic. And the booty drop dance @beyonce & @saintrecords did... that was everythangg. By FAR my most favorite part of Fashionlaine has been being able to meet and work with so many amazing, talented, and creative people throughout the years. . This photo shoot series began with a simple conversation @mayralobba had with me in passing one day when she said, “I just have this vision of shooting you in the most amazing rainbow dress in the middle of the desert.” And with a sketch she drew of her idea... this was how #DesertInColor all began. . Throughout this series I've blown past the wind, climbed mountains, and have lit up the world in smoke bomb fire. And now... it was time to FLY IN THE SKY. . As one of my all-time favorite leaders of wisdom Maya Angelou says so beautifully above, we've all experienced moments in our lives in which we may have wished never happened. But it's not about the cards we've been dealt with, yet instead, the true test lies with us deciding how we’ll choose to move forward from these moments to create who we become after. . Rainbows are known to always come after storms—which is the symbol with today’s photo shoot. No matter what life gives us, we have the ability to climb the highest & most difficult mountains and turn every cloudy situation into a beautiful rainbow. Life is about perspective and how we want to look at things. And as Maya Angelou says above—sometimes we just need to shift the way we think to make a change. . This series has been all about bringing & creating some form of color and rainbow to each stop in the desert. But sometimes you just need to realize... YOU have the power to simply be that rainbow.
