Today's post is an extra special and unique one to me because it's not dedicated to one person who inspires me, but a whole group of people that do. The group is called Kol Ahava which translates to the meaning "All Love". The board consists of over 32 members devoted to bringing young professionals together to join in and make a difference through different philanthropic causes and events. Yet, what is more impressive to me than the already amazing causes they have lined up each time to raise money for, are the faces behind those raising the awareness. What you may not know right off the bat about this group when looking at (or attending) their well-executed events is that these board members are just like you and me-- the youth of this generation. Ranging from students to working professionals, the members of Kol Ahava not only work tirelessly to put on and perfect events to raise money for others... but they do so in addition to their already full plates and schedules of jobs, classes, and extracurriculars. They do what they do for this organization not because anyone is making or paying them to, but because they are a passionate group that wants to.
Following their previous successful event in February called "Bash for SACH" where enough money was raised to donate a doctor's room in the Save A Child's Heart Hospital, they were back and stronger than ever this past Saturday for their 4th event dubbed "Bnai Zion's Cabaret". Always personally loving everything with a theme (especially if it involves me dressing up in headbands, Chagoury Couture dresses, and KOTUR clutches), right from the start I could just tell that this event was going to be major in more ways than one. With sponsors from Rockstar and Lyft behind the cause and with over 700+ attendees who enjoyed the likes of everything from casino games to aerial dancers to over $8,000 worth of raffle prizes ranging from Flat Screen TVs to highly coveted Clipper game tickets, this event had a whole lot of everything for everyone.
With a quote right off the home screen of their website that reads "He that gives should never remember, he that receives should never forget", this is truly a group that looks for no thanks for the work that they do, but instead continue to keep moving along from one philanthropic mission to the next to educate, engage, and make a difference to groups and organizations all around the world. And I for one can't wait to see what they come up with and who they make a difference with next!
