Summertime Sadness

I think these chilly nights that are lowkey creeping up on us LAers are the first signs to the fact that fall must be approaching. Still confused as I still feel myself burning up in a semi heatwave from time to time, I think I can finally say that I'm ready to let summer fall behind us and let fall takeover. Honestly, where is the time going though because I feel like just yesterday I was getting ready to embark on the start of summer and all that next few months were going to bring. And now with a blink of an eye, it's October in a week from now. Maybe it's the heatwave that has taken over the past few weeks or maybe it's simply because I think I'm actually running out of crop tops to wear, but I think for the first time in like ever, I'm actually ready to take on fall full force. To commemorate the end of summer, today's post features some pics of my adventures from Labor Day Weekend when I went to Paradise Cove in Malibu. I can't believe that was the first and last time I went to the beach all summer! I guess I know what's on the top of my to-dos for next year.

Cali Daze

It's been a while since I've been able to post fully on Fashionlaine. For those who follow me on Instagram (@lainey__g), you know I've been trotting around the US for the past month or two with my stints in San Antonio, Vegas, New York, Chicago (times two) and more. I'm a lover for traveling and I don't think I'll ever get enough of it. But as the wise Dorothy quotes in one of my all-time favorite movies, The Wizard of OZ, I have come to truly take more importance and agreeance to the saying "there's no place like home". Yeah you can travel on Riverwalk in San Antonio and befriend the quaint bars and restaurants around you, or take on some epic tanning seshs and dance offs with some of the best DJs in Vegas, or jump into the fast life of cabs and subways in New York , or even get a little bit of it all in Chicago. But for a girl born and raised in Cali, after jetsetting the world for a while, I have come to see that the best of everything can be just right at home. With almost perfect weather all year round and a lot to look forward to with the remainder of my summer, I can't wait to spend a little bit of my remaining summer days with some of my besties, soaking in and staying in this beautiful Cali Daze.

Let's Go To The Beach

Ever since last week when the weather had been hitting the 80s and everyone was instagramming pictures and making statuses about lying by the pool, all I wanted to do was go to the beach. So I made it a mission this past Saturday to get ready in full Lainey beach mode and attempt to turn some of my winter white skin into a pretty Californian tan. Trekking over to Santa Monica which seemed like it took an eternity (it actually seriously did take a hour to get there and a hour to get back, which for LAers that really is an eternity), it was clear everyone else had the same game plan in mind as me. With my Crime By Design hat, one of my millions of favorite H&M bathing suits, and vintage shorts that were originally mom's high waisted skirt that I converted to high waisted shorts, I was ready to hit the beach, Fashionlaine style.
