Wedding Series: The Vintage Look

It seems like everyone I'm talking to these days agrees with me on one thing for this summer-- it's officially wedding season. And have no fear, because I'm fully jumping in on this bandwagon, with 5 weddings to be exact! As I think I can safely say that I've definitely partaken in my good fair share of weddings within these past few years, I feel like I've become a type of expert on all things evening wear. And let me tell you, wedding dress shopping is not easy! You want the perfect dress, that is cute, fun, wearable, re-wearable, and most importantly, feels like you.  And on top of that, of course, you want it to be a dress that you don't have to worry about 8 other girls showing up in. Thus, since it seems like everyone is always asking me on recommendations on where to shop for wedding dresses and looks that won't break your bank account, I thought I'd take this season's festivities (and this summer) to share with you some of my favorite dresses, styles, and brands to inspire your next wedding celebration.

Starting off my wedding series with this beautiful sequin number from BHLDN, I've always wanted to try out one of their dresses and have the perfect occasion to wear it to and this was just it! With an array of options and selections to choose from, this amaze dress instantly spoke to me the second I wore it, getting a pretty vintage type vibe. Adding my own little sequin hair piece to the look after an epic DryBar blowout to give it a little more flare (not that it needed it anyways), I really really loved this look and now I feel like I've set the bar high for myself to top the next weddings to come up.

But have no fear, challenge accepted, and I'm ready for game on!

Pretty In Pink

junior bridesmaid dresses It seems like this week is a coverage of weddings! From yesterday's Modern Day Bride post to today's wedding outfit look from this past weekend. For those who have been following me for a while, you know that I am a huge lover of weddings and grand celebrations. Not only because of the fact that I get to share in the special moment and joy of other's big days, but also because I get to create an opportunity for myself to play dress up and have fun which is exactly what I did for the wedding I went to over Memorial Day. Typically not of the norm cut or color I usually work for wedding dresses (aka I pretty much somehow end up sticking with black), I decided to get festive in coloring with this uber cute Barbie hot pink and deep V cut dress. And in prepping for the night's festivities, there were only two obvious places in which I needed to go to for hair and makeup--Drybar and MAC Cosmetics. I decided that with my hair I wanted to do a simple and pretty look with big curls and a braid going to the top of my head whereas for the makeup I wanted to do it smokey and glittery paired with a light orange/ peach lip gloss. And those two elements along with the gorgeous dress made for a spring wedding ensemble.

Modern Day Bride

Around a month or two ago I played Pravana bride to help give professional hairstylists tips on how to make the perfect bridal hair for any dream wedding. As we've been seeing how coloring your hair fun colors like the lavender hair that I just recently did is such a trend, many people are in fear to take the color plunge (as I was with the day we did this photo shoot). So the fabulous Pravana experts put together a tutorial on how to get the perfect "modern day bride" look (purple hair and all) with extensions! The two step process showed how to create the most beautiful updo for the wedding ceremony (that's actually all looped and tied together with just a needle and a piece of string). And then when it's time for the reception and you're looking to throw your hair down, with this hairstyle, you're able to just take out the string and vaw-lah, you've got the perfect luscious curls to dance the night away! Below's a little snippet video as well as some pics from both looks from my day as Pravana bride.
