A Classical Twist

Today's feature is not only someone who is my latest inspiration, but also one that is my latest obsession! With a boho grunge meets feminine yet rocker look, Mollie made me fall in love with her beyond amazing style and adorable personality from the second I met her. A lover of fashion and trends just like the next girl, what sets Mollie apart is how she doesn't fall into the grind of trendy designers, standard outfits, and obvious looks. Quickly getting tired of trends that become so been-there-done-that after a week, Mollie puts a little twist to her style by creating some not so typical looks that you end up thinking to yourself, "why didn't I ever come up with that?". With today's too cute of an outfit that I need to replicate in my own wardrobe  ASAP, Mollie knows how to pair the obvious with the unobvious like this fab Brandy Melville dress with some Steve Madden rocker studded combat boots and a hint of a gold choker necklace. Getting her fashion inspirations from everything from street style to people like Olivia Palermo and Miranda Kerr,  Mollie's style is anything but typical and ordinary, resulting in continually giving inspiration, one outfit at a time.

Against The Grain

In between last week's crazy Oscar madness with people jumping from one party and event to another, LA'ers had to dress to impress everywhere they went. So when I had to run around town post Oscar event and not being able to handle the pain of the uncomfy heels that went with this outfit any further, I did what I thought was going to be the unthinkable and a fashion disaster and pulled out the gold sneaks I had lying around in my car from earlier that day. But then I realized that, actually, it wasn't a disaster at all. All the gold sneaks did was take my ensemble from fancy and upscale to little more casual and hip-- making me kind of fall in love with the look even more. The unexpected on-the-whim alteration to my outfit came to show that you don't always have to stick to the rules to make a cute outfit work, sometimes going against the grain and trying new combinations can lead to bigger benefits and fashionista moments, and not to mention more comfort!

A Louie Kinda Day

Happy Tuesday Fashionlainers! Hope you all had a great and relaxing President's Day weekend. I'm sure like many of you, I am constantly on the go, running from one errand or task to another--not having too much time to just relax and hang out. So when this President's Day weekend snuck up so casually upon me and almost out of the blue, I kept wondering to myself "what am I going to do with all this three day weekend time?!"  So of course, yesterday had to consist of a day venturing to the very rarely visited Downtown neighborhood and a lunch at one of my all-time favorite restaurants, Bottega Louie. Very much a throwback to a Dean & Deluca New York feel, this restaurant which feels almost out of place amongst its neighboring stores and bars, is one of the ultimate places to dine with yummy pizzas that are to die for and the tastiest french macarons that are so pretty that you don't want to ruin. The look I went for with my outfit was dressy casual, pairing a simple dress with an oversized sweater, and tieing it together with my favorite sneaker wedges that have officially become my obsession go-to shoes of the moment. A perfect outfit for a perfect Louie kinda day.
