Taking Chances

Something that I can definitely say about myself is that I'm not afraid to try something new with my wardrobe. Forcing myself to think outside of the box, I strive to put together different and unique combinations and outfits that allow me to show off the different sides of me. Many of times people say phrases to me like "only you would wear that", which at first I wasn't sure if "that" was a good or bad thing. But over time, instead of taking statements like those as negative ones, I started taking them in as the hugest of compliments, believing my style to be unique and different compared to those around me, which I always strive to do. While things like floral pastel leggings and silver metallic Air Jordan 1s combined together can very easily go from hit to miss, I'm not scared to test out the waters and see what happens. I sometimes get stuck in my ways, trying to figure out a solution to pairing my obscure purchases like these pastel florals with the rest of the items in my closet because you can't just wear them with anything. Therefore, being creative and fitting all your pieces together takes some time and takes some art. On a day like this where it was a little chilly outside and I knew I wanted to wear something warm, I had the idea to pull the leggings together with a maroon colored TOMs sweater along with my favorite Jordans and ear cuffs to add that extra umph and swag which ended up creating an outfit that I was was completely in love with-- reaffirming my belief that sometimes, it's okay to take chances.

Chillin In Cheetah

Prints have never been my thing. Whether a simple pattern or a throwback to some of our favorite zoo animals including zebras and cheetahs, I was convinced that I could not work these patterns into my every day ensembles. I feel like with animal prints, there's a very fine line between them looking tacky and them looking chic with one's ensembles. Yet, whenever I have been seeing others wearing it, I tend to love them more and more. I think though that the result of both the combination of the sheerness of this top along with the low to high nature style (which I always love), those were the key ingredients to me finally deciding to purchase an animal print style of my own. Yet, even though this outfit looks like a natural and something I sport all the time, I never forget to be true to my Lainey ways and pair it up with things like big chunky heels, dramatic jewelry, and a headband.

A Little Bit Of Diva

Taking my own advice from last week's must-have in The Nicki Effect and throwing in some deep purple lipstick into the mix, today's outfit was inspired by a little bit of Queen Bey's Diva swag sprinkled in with some of Lady G's stunner glasses layered with a touch of Kesha's iconic signature fur pieces. Pairing the look up with a striped shirt that fit in perfectly with the lipstick, I tried to make the fur vest and ensemble go from super fancy to a bit more casual.  And when you throw in the right accessories, shoes, and attitude, you too can easily make your look be fit for a little bit of a diva for the day.
