Concrete Jungle

New York has always been one of those magical places for me. It's like, without a doubt, every time I'm in the cab ride from JFK to the city, I instantly mush into a ball of love and astonishment for NY the second I see the view of the city skyline for the first time. Maybe it's the hustle and bustle of the streets, maybe it's the idea of a winter wonderlanded December with people ice skating at Rockefeller, or maybe it's my Gossip Girl fantasy of the battle of the Upper and Lower East Siders. But whatever it is, in the iconic words of Jay and Ms Keys, it truly is a concrete jungle where dreams are made of.  I had a blast in NY (as I always do), and had the best time being amongst all that is fashion during NYFW. I'm excited for what the future holds and can't wait to take you all along the journey with me.

Till we meet again NY, xo Lainey

Post Labor Day Whites

I for one love getting into themes, especially when it involves my full wardrobe attention and focus. So as the old saying goes "you can't wear white after Labor Day", you sure can bet that I was trying to pack in every white on white on white themed outfit I could before this past weekend was up. But to be honest, once Labor Day passes, I kind of let that old saying go and wear whatever I want... which will probably include a head to toe white outfit (throw in a beanie or a fur vest to make it more wintery). And really, why shouldn't you? As my favorite self-created personal motto goes "be what you want, wear what you want." And that definitely includes wearing some white in the winter. And as Drake's famous saying goes #YOLO.

Cali Daze

It's been a while since I've been able to post fully on Fashionlaine. For those who follow me on Instagram (@lainey__g), you know I've been trotting around the US for the past month or two with my stints in San Antonio, Vegas, New York, Chicago (times two) and more. I'm a lover for traveling and I don't think I'll ever get enough of it. But as the wise Dorothy quotes in one of my all-time favorite movies, The Wizard of OZ, I have come to truly take more importance and agreeance to the saying "there's no place like home". Yeah you can travel on Riverwalk in San Antonio and befriend the quaint bars and restaurants around you, or take on some epic tanning seshs and dance offs with some of the best DJs in Vegas, or jump into the fast life of cabs and subways in New York , or even get a little bit of it all in Chicago. But for a girl born and raised in Cali, after jetsetting the world for a while, I have come to see that the best of everything can be just right at home. With almost perfect weather all year round and a lot to look forward to with the remainder of my summer, I can't wait to spend a little bit of my remaining summer days with some of my besties, soaking in and staying in this beautiful Cali Daze.
